What the retreat is about and who it’s for

I’m super excited to invite you to a magical art retreat this summer. Spend a week with me in a brand-new, boutique, healing retreat center set in the middle of Bali’s lush, green rice paddies. Surrounded by incredible beauty, with the town of Ubud, a popular arts and culture center, just fifteen minutes drive away, you’re sure to feel inspired to unwind and connect with your creativity.

During our week together, I’ll gently lead you through a process, prepared exclusively for this retreat. I have years of experience, both creating and fostering creativity, and you’ll receive focused, one-on-one attention from me as you explore and learn. Whether you’re a beginner or a professional artist, you’ll unearth your unique creative potential as you try new techniques and approaches designed to spark your curiosity, help you trust your judgment, and let go of self-doubt.

The theme is Balinese flowers. You’ll experiment with floral painting techniques, looking at colour, composition, texture and mixing media. I’ll show you how to work with the process in mind rather than the outcome and how this leads to exciting discoveries that start to define your style. You’ll come away with renewed enthusiasm for this inspiring subject matter.

Between painting workshops, you’ll love relaxing by the beautiful pool in the tranquil garden, tasting the delicious seasonal, organic cuisine, or enjoying a complimentary massage in the onsite spa.

You’ll also visit a sacred water temple surrounded by ancient shrines and crystal clear water fed by natural springs where you’ll be cleansed and blessed in natural holy water. You’ll then have lunch at the amazing Tegallang Rice Terraces, overlooking breat-taking scenery, followed by coffee and tea tasting in the rice fields.

Throughout the week, I’ll be more than happy to share my experiences in the art business and discuss your artistic dreams and how to make them a reality.

About Victoria Johnson:

Hello. I’m Victoria, an English artist, designer and teacher based in Rome, Italy. I help artists and designers develop the skills and confidence to create and sell attention-grabbing artwork.

 

I’ve worked in the commercial design industry for over twenty-five years and my artwork has featured on a variety of beautiful products for a range of well-known clients, including Anthropologie, Gap, Hallmark, Papyrus and Windham Fabrics.

 

I started my design career in America, opening my own New York / London design studio with three partners, working with leading womenswear designers and retailers in the US and UK.

 

After twelve years in New York, I moved to Rome with my family. Having children, I needed flexibility and freedom and started designing under my own name.

 

With my popular Create Explore online art and design courses, I distill my years of experience into powerful lessons that motivate and inspire, encouraging artists to be themselves, value their judgment and taste, and create their best work.
