C7C vs C10 Visa for Bali: Which One Does Your Retreat Need?

Plenty of retreat leaders land in Bali on a tourist visa, run their retreat, and assume it's fine. It's an easy assumption to make, because so many people on the island appear to be doing exactly that.
But a tourist visa and a visa for working at an event are different things, and the difference matters the moment you start leading sessions or running a paid retreat. Getting it wrong can put your retreat, and your travel plans, at risk.
This guide explains the two visas we help retreat leaders with most: the C7C and the C10.
Why a Tourist Visa Isn't Enough
A tourist visa is designed for visiting. It does not permit you to teach, lead sessions, create paid content, or carry out professional activities. If you are hosting guests, facilitating, or running a retreat as your work, you need a visa that matches what you will actually be doing.
That's the purpose of the C7C and C10. Both are built around events, and which one fits depends on the kind of event you're running.
The C7C Visa: For Wellness Events
The C7C is the visa for wellness events, and it lasts 30 days.
For most of the retreat leaders we work with, this is the one. If you're running a yoga retreat, a breathwork or meditation retreat, a healing or coaching retreat, or another wellness-focused gathering, the C7C is the visa designed for that kind of event.
Who it suits: leaders hosting a wellness retreat in Bali.
How long it lasts: 30 days, which covers the length of most retreats, plus some time on either side for arrival and departure.
It's also the visa we help with most often, simply because most of the clients we work with are running retreats, not conferences or corporate programs.
The C10 Visa: For Corporate Events
The C10 is the visa for corporate events, and it lasts 60 days.
If your event is a corporate gathering, such as a company offsite, a team program or a business event, the C10 is the one designed for it. It gives you a longer window than the C7C, which suits corporate programs that need more preparation and wrap-up time.
Who it suits: leaders and organizers running corporate events in Bali.
How long it lasts: 60 days.
If you're thinking of offering corporate programs alongside your retreats, our guide to hosting a corporate wellness retreat in Bali covers how that format differs.
C7C vs C10 at a Glance
C7C — wellness events, such as retreats; lasts 30 days
C10 — corporate events; lasts 60 days
The simple rule: choose by the type of event. A wellness retreat points to the C7C; a corporate event points to the C10. If your event sits somewhere in between, it's worth asking before you apply rather than guessing.
Why It's Worth Asking a Local Service Partner
Visa requirements in Indonesia can change, and they vary by passport and by what you'll be doing in Bali. The details are easy to get wrong when you're working from another country, and a mistake can cost you time you don't have.
That's where a local service partner helps. We're not a visa agency, but we know the process well. We help you work out which visa fits your retreat, introduce you to our licensed legal partner, and give you a checklist of what you'll need. Your application is then submitted and managed by that partner, so you don't have to work through it alone.
This is one of the reasons many retreat leaders prefer to plan with a partner who is on the ground in Bali: the visa is only one of many details, and it's easier to have someone local keeping track of it. When to Start
Visa applications take time. Processing typically takes 5 to 14 business days once your application is submitted, and that doesn't include gathering your documents. We recommend starting at least four weeks before you arrive, and earlier if you can. Our Bali retreat planning timeline shows where the visa fits alongside everything else you'll be arranging.
