ECO LUXE RETREAT

EAST BALI

Nestled deep in the river valley of Selat, Karangasem - Eco Luxe Villas sits where rice terraces give way to dense jungle, and the constant sound of a running river sets the pace for everything that follows.

Every house is hand-drawn by an in-house team of architects and built entirely from locally sourced bamboo by skilled Balinese artisans

The full property spans 14 individual bamboo houses accommodating between 2 and 6 guests each, with a combined maximum capacity of around 30 guests.

* Best suited for boutique retreat groups who want to book a cluster of character-driven villas in a deeply immersive jungle setting, rather than a single shared resort building.

Why Choose

ECO LUXE RETREAT

Architect-Designed Bamboo

Every one of the 14 bamboo houses is individually drawn and hand-built from local bamboo — no two are alike. Retreat guests are housed in living works of architecture rather than uniform hotel rooms, making the venue itself a part of the experience.

Far from the Tourist Trail

Situated in Selat, Karangasem, two hours from the airport, Hideout sits in one of Bali's most untouched areas — surrounded by rice fields, jungle, and a river valley that very few retreat venues in Bali can match for natural depth and quiet.

A Hideout for Every Guest Type

With 14 hideouts spanning glamping huts and riverside cabins through to 3-bedroom group villas, retreat leaders can mix and match villas to suit couples, solo travelers, families, and friend groups within a single retreat.

Private Water Rituals Built Into Every Stay

Heated jacuzzis, river-fed pools, stone outdoor baths, flower baths, private onsens, cold plunges, and infinity pools — water is central to almost every villa, offering deeply personal wellness moments without needing a shared spa.

In-House Bistro, Activities & Village Culture

Freshly prepared Balinese and international meals delivered direct to each villa, plus on-site yoga, massage, shaman visits, batik lessons, and silver workshops — a full retreat program can be built using Hideout's own offering.

Fresh, Honest Food Delivered to Your Door

The Bistro brings locally sourced, freshly prepared Balinese and international meals straight to each villa — no restaurant queues, no shared dining rooms, just barefoot meals in your own private jungle space.

Helpful Information

Venue

Located in Karangasem — approximately 120 minutes from Ngurah Rai International Airport and 90 minutes from Ubud; the remoteness is intentional and a core part of what makes this venue distinct.

The property is a scattered compound of 14 individual villas, not a single building — retreat groups book a selection of villas rather than one shared structure.

Staff are available daily from 7am–10pm; there is no 24/7 reception but a night security officer is present throughout, and team members live nearby.

The property is in the middle of a jungle river valley — wildlife encounters (insects, frogs, lizards, occasionally snakes) are part of the environment; retreat leaders should communicate this clearly to participants who may be sensitive to this.

Rooms

The 14 hideouts split into three broad tiers by group size and character:

For 2 guests (solo, couples, honeymooners):

Cocoon, Falcon, Lightroom, Hay House, Zen, Element, Tantra.

For 3–4 guests (small families, friend groups):

Bamboo Home, Beehive, Horizon, Reflection.

For 5–6 guests (groups):

Flow, Leaf.

Facilities

The Bistro is not a restaurant — food is delivered to each villa privately; there are two riverside gazebos for outdoor eating but no formal dining room.

Private yoga sessions (90 minutes) can be arranged through the team and take place in the villa garden or inside the hideout; styles include hatha, therapy yoga, ashtanga, and meditation — mats provided.

In-villa Balinese massage (60 minutes, using local organic coconut oil) is available to book through the team and conducted privately in the guest's own villa or garden with a portable massage table; body scrubs and extended sessions also available on request.

questions

frequently asked questions

It's neither in the traditional sense. The property operates like a boutique eco-retreat: 14 individually designed bamboo villas, each with their own private space and features, supported by a warm in-house team, in-villa meal delivery, and a curated activities menu — private hospitality at its most personal

Retreat groups book a selection of individual villas to suit the group size, typically mixing a few larger villas (Flow, Leaf, Reflection) with smaller ones for couples or solo participants. Unlike an exclusive-use property, individual villas may also be booked by other guests during the same period.

With all 14 hideouts at capacity, the property can house around 28–30 guests, though retreat groups typically book a subset of villas tailored to their group size and needs.

Flow (6 guests, 3 bedrooms, home cinema, infinity pool, stone jacuzzi) and Leaf (6 guests, 3 bedrooms, private pool, jungle jacuzzi) are the largest and most naturally suited to anchor a retreat group stay.

Every villa is designed by Hideout's in-house architects and built entirely by hand from locally sourced bamboo — no steel frames, no factory-manufactured panels. Each structure is unique and unrepeatable, making the accommodation itself a central part of the retreat experience.

Yes — private 90-minute yoga sessions (hatha, therapy, ashtanga, or meditation) and in-villa Balinese massage are both bookable through the Eco Luxe team and take place in the privacy of the guest's own bamboo house or garden.

The property is a genuine jungle river setting, so insects, frogs, lizards, and occasionally snakes and spiders are part of the environment. The team provides mosquito nets, natural repellents, and practical guidance. Retreat leaders should share this clearly with participants before arrival.

Not all — some hideouts (like Tantra and the Original) are open-air by design, while others (like Zen, Bamboo Home, Beehive, and Leaf) include AC in the bedroom. Check individual hideout specs when matching rooms to participants.

The property is approximately 2 hours from Ngurah Rai International Airport and 90 minutes from central Ubud. Private airport transfers can be arranged through Hideout's recommended driver network.
