Helpful Information

Venue
Located in Payangan, Gianyar, approximately 45–60 minutes from central Ubud depending on traffic conditions. Surrounded by a quieter and more rural landscape, the venue offers a peaceful setting that allows guests to slow down, reconnect with nature, and fully immerse themselves in the retreat experience.
Sacred Garden Retreat is not an exclusive-use venue — other guests and program participants may be staying on the property during your retreat.
Noble silence is observed throughout the property — this applies to all guests regardless of program, and participants should be fully briefed before arrival.
The property is set on a working organic farm — composting and natural farming practices attract fruit flies and other insects; dining areas are netted but insects are part of the environment. A nearby pig farm means guests will hear animal sounds during feeding times — this is flagged prominently by the property itself and should be included in pre-retreat communications.

Rooms
Deluxe King (The Taj, upper floor) — private veranda overlooking deep green jungle, sunrise mountain views, private toilet & shower, mini bar, kettle, AC & fan, hair dryer, pool access; most premium private option.
Deluxe Twin (The Taj) — same amenities and views as Deluxe King but with 2 single beds and a private terrace; ideal for two participants sharing.
Jungle Room (2 rooms) — double bed, beautiful jungle view with good airflow, private veranda, private bathroom, mini bar, kettle; no AC (fan only) — worth flagging to participants expecting air conditioning.
Gladak (5 rooms) — 5 Javanese design-inspired wooden houses with queen or twin beds, private veranda, garden views, private bathroom, mini bar, kettle; fan and hair dryer by request only, no AC.
Little Sweet (5 rooms) — single bed, stunning jungle view with good airflow, shared toilets and showers, fan only, locking cabinets, mini bar, kettle; the most affordable option, most suitable for solo participants comfortable with shared bathrooms.
Dormitory — upscale bunk beds, shared toilets and showers, AC & fan, chill-out area, locking cabinets, kettle; direct access to the garden and lounging deck; best for budget-conscious programs.
Bedding and towel changes happen on a set weekly schedule (mid-week) — not daily; extra supplies can be requested via written note to housekeeping

Facilities
The large swimming pool is free access all day for all guests.
The heated pool requires 2 days advance booking (not 1 day as some sources suggest) — also used for Watsu/Aqua Body Work sessions.
Wifi is available in select areas but is basic and not suitable for video or voice calls — VoIP slows the network for other guests and is discouraged. Dining is buffet-only with no à la carte menu; dietary requirements must be communicated at time of booking confirmation; meal times are coordinated and confirmed in advance.

questions
frequently asked questions
Where is Sacred Garden Retreat located?
The property is situated in the hills of Payangan, Gianyar — approximately 45–60 minutes from central Ubud. It's a rural, mountainous setting on a working organic farm, surrounded by jungle and views of Mount Agung.
Is the venue exclusive-use for our retreat group?
No — Sacred Garden Retreat is a shared retreat center that may host multiple guests and programs simultaneously. Retreat leaders should communicate the community-style environment and noble silence expectation to participants before arrival.
What type of retreat is this venue best suited for?
Yoga teacher trainings, meditation retreats, breathwork programs, and spiritual or personal growth retreats whose participants are drawn to simplicity, nature immersion, and authentic Balinese farm life. Not suited to groups expecting resort-style comfort, full privacy, or on-demand services.
Is noble silence maintained throughout the stay?
Yes — noble silence is observed throughout the property and applies to all guests, not just those on a specific program. Retreat leaders should ensure participants understand and are fully prepared for this before booking.
What yoga and practice spaces are available?
Two dedicated spaces: the main ground-level shala with panoramic windows and Mount Agung views, and the Lotus Studio — a circular upper-level space with draping fabric ceilings, string lights, and sweeping jungle views. An open-air Javanese pavilion is also available for workshops, gatherings, or outdoor practice.
What spa treatments are available?
The on-site spa offers Balinese massage, deep tissue massage, four hands massage, foot massage, upper body massage, and an infra-red sauna. Advance booking is recommended, especially for retreat groups wanting multiple treatment slots.
What meals and dietary options are available?
Three buffet-style meals daily are available for group programs using organic, farm-grown, and locally sourced ingredients. Vegetarian, vegan, raw vegan, gluten-free, and paleo options are catered for. A juice bar serves pressed juices, fresh coconuts, smoothies, and snacks throughout the day. No à la carte menu is available. Dietary requirements must be communicated at the time of booking.
What wildlife and farm sounds should participants expect?
The property is a working organic farm — participants will encounter fruit flies near the dining area, insects (cicadas, mosquitos, ants, beetles), frogs, lizards, geckos, and the occasional mouse. Audible pig farm sounds are a certainty during feeding times. Retreat leaders should include this in pre-retreat communications.
