Helpful Information

Venue

The grounds keep a low-key, residential feel typical of Peliatan village, giving guests a quieter alternative to Ubud's busier tourist strip while staying an easy ten-minute trip from its centre.

The Design Sanctuary operates as an independent boutique hotel that doubles as a creative hub in Ubud, hosting a rotating calendar of exhibitions, talks, and workshops centred on Indonesian artists and craftspeople.

The property is also home to two dining and lounge concepts that run almost as brands of their own: Ramu Kitchen, its rooftop restaurant, and Coca Selekta, a 25-seat cocktail and vinyl listening bar built around a library of more than 700 records.

Rooms

Every room at The Design Sanctuary is treated as its own small design project, built with handcrafted furniture and finished with details from local artisans rather than a single repeated template. The 18 standard rooms follow a simpler, consistent design with king-size or twin beds, floor-to-ceiling windows, and private balconies overlooking the tropical gardens.

Rooms are arranged to give each guest their own private space, which suits retreat groups who want somewhere separate to return to at the end of the day rather than shared or dormitory-style accommodation.

Facilities

For groups, the property offers six multi-purpose event spaces plus an open-air amphitheater, and a cinema with 50+ seats, which can be set up for anything from a workshop or talk to a retreat session or private gathering. The rooftop restaurant, serves pan-Asian cuisine made with locally-sourced ingredients and occasionally hosts live cooking demonstrations and cultural performances — useful for building a group dinner around more than just a meal.

Coca Selekta, the property's listening bar, runs from 4 to 11 PM and gives groups a low-key evening option on-site, with cocktails and a library of more than 700 vinyl records to browse.
