KINTAMANI BLACK LAVA ADVENTURE
Kintamani Black Lava Adventure is a half day dirt bike ride through the dramatic volcanic landscape of Mount Batur, one of Bali's most active volcanoes. Wide black sand dunes and hardened lava fields stretch out in every direction, making it feel like you're riding on another planet. It's the perfect pick for retreat groups who love a bit of adrenaline with their views.
The ride is led by experienced local guides who know every line of these volcanic trails. They speak English and Indonesian, carry first aid equipment, and keep the pace safe while still making it thrilling. Before heading out, they run through a trail briefing and safety tips, and match each rider with the right bike.
The morning starts on the crater rim overlooking Lake Batur, where everyone gets fully kitted out in safety gear. Then it's time to fire up the engines and head down onto the black lava. Over about 4 hours, you'll ride across sandy dunes and rocky lava tracks with Mount Batur towering above you. The trail is technical in parts, so some riding experience is recommended. It's the kind of adventure your group will talk about long after the dust settles.
This activity takes place in Kintamani, about 1 to 1.5 hours' drive north of Ubud.
