SCUBA DIVING IN SOUTHEAST LOMBOK
Scuba Diving in Southeast Lombok is a full day out at sea on your group’s own private boat, exploring one of Indonesia’s best-kept diving secrets. The protected Tanjung Ringgit coastline and the waters of the Alas Strait are far quieter than Bali or the Gili Islands, with healthy coral reefs, dramatic underwater landscapes and marine life at every turn.
The day is led by a friendly, international team of PADI instructors and dive guides who know these waters inside out. Groups are kept small, with no more than four divers per instructor or guide, so everyone gets plenty of personal attention. Every morning, the team picks the best dive sites for that day’s ocean conditions.
Never dived before? No problem. First-timers can try a Discover Scuba Diving experience. After learning the basics from an instructor, they head into the water for two shallow dives over colourful reefs. Certified divers can explore further, with soft coral gardens, gentle slopes full of seahorses, cuttlefish and nudibranchs, and the chance to spot turtles and reef sharks. Anyone who’d rather stay near the surface can snorkel instead, so the whole group can share the day. Lunch, snacks and drinks are served on board between dives.
The day starts at the dive shop in Kuta, on Lombok’s south coast. From there, it’s about a 50-minute drive to the harbour in Southeast Lombok, followed by a 25-minute boat ride to the dive sites.
